Per Kirkeby | Woodcuts
New from the collection
8 july - 23 October 2016
Per Kirkeby (b. 1938) is one of the most important Danish contemporary artists. Since 1975 he has regularly donated more than 3,000 of its own graphic works to the museum, including a nearly complete series of all his woodcuts. The prints are characterized by an expressive imagery and a suspenseful overlapping of motives. They reflect the artist's interest in the creative process, the texture of the prints and repetition of the motifs. The exhibition provides a representative view of Kirkeby's production of woodcuts from the 1950s until today.
