Prints from the collection

11 February – 28 August 2017

The exhibition is a collocation of selected prints by Per Kirkeby (b.1938) and Asger Jorn (1914-1973), two of Denmark’s most important artists. The collocation is organised as a dark cave, whose treasures can be explored by using flashlights. This alternative form of presentation facilitates the specific visual dialogues concealed within the cave, tracing the striking similarities and differences in the imagery of the two artists, to be discovered from the individual perspectives of viewers. This curatorial technique does not only offer a unique subjective art experience, but will shine a light on issues about the general interrelationship between art, artists, museums, and viewers.

The exhibition KIRKEBY I JORN is conceived by Søs Bech Ladefoged, who is preparing her master’s thesis in art history at Aarhus University, in collaboration with the School of Communication and Culture, Aarhus University, and Museum Jorn.
