VARIATIONS: Per Kirkeby's woodcuts
17 June - 29. July 2018
Per Kirkeby (1938-2018) is one of the most important Danish contemporary artists. Since 1974 he has regularly donated more than 3.000 of his own graphic works to the museum, including an almost complete series of his woodcuts. The prints are characterized by an expressive imagery and a suspenseful compilation of motives. They reflect the artist's interest in the creative process, the texture of the prints, and the repetition of motives. The exhibition provides a representative view of Kirkeby's production of woodcuts from the 1950s until today.
