SISSV Archive Workshop

Saturday 20th September 2014 at 11am - 4.30 pm

The three artists Nicolas Malevé, Michael Murtaugh and Ellef Prestsæter host an international seminar at Museum Jorn concerning their work on Asger Jorns large photo archive from Scandinavian Institute of Comparative Vandalism (SISV).

A couple of months ago they launched their own Scandinavian Institute of Contemporary Comparative Vandalism (SISSV) online and also on site as part of the exhibition "Dr. Jorn's Institute for Artistic Disturbances" at Museum Jorn.

Now they invite you to a workshop where they will describe the background for their actions as well the appeal of this name SISSV. Together with special guests Teresa Østergaard Pedersen (Aarhus University / Museum Jorn) and Matthew Fuller (Goldsmiths College) they will approach the archive of the Scandinavian Institute of Comparative Vandalism (SISV) wondering:

—How to discover an image through its metamorphoses?
—How to discover a location through its migrations?
—What is the proliferating/fermenting power of a pixel?
—How to follow lines and shapes in a network of tales?

These questions and many others in more than 25,000 iterations.
The workshop will include lectures as well as hands on work sessions with the SISV archive.
